A SCHEME which offers free home insulation to Ryedale residents has almost reached its funding limit.

The Wrapping Up Yorkshire initiative allows residents, including landlords, to claim free loft and cavity wall insulation for their homes for a short time, with the financial support coming from national energy firms.

The remaining funding will allow 30 homes – and 500 across North Yorkshire – to be insulated.

Ryedale District Council leader Linda Cowling said: “The success of the scheme has meant the opportunity for reduced fuel bills and improved health for those most susceptible to illness as a result of cold homes, and we’re now urging residents to take up the offer before the money completely runs out.”

Anybody who wants to take advantage of the scheme should phone Yorkshire Energy Partnership on 01904 545020 and quote ‘Wrapping Up Yorkshire’, or visit yorkshirenergypartnership.org.uk/advice to apply online.

Elsewhere in North Yorkshire, funding remains for 125 homes in York, 50 in Selby, 55 in Hambleton and 70 in Scarborough.
