A RYEDALE dogs home has received a much-needed cash windfall from a pet store.
Pets At Home York donated £5,000 to Ryedale Dog Rescue which relies on volunteers and fundraising from events such as dog shows, car boot sales and coffee mornings.
The charity was formed in 2005 to rehome abandoned and unwanted animals within the Ryedale area, and is currently looking to find homes for 12 dogs, but can look after up to 80 pets.
Rosie Stephenson, dog co-ordinator, who has worked for the charity for seven years, said: “It was a massive relief.
“Pets At Home have been very good to us; they also allow us to have tombola in their store. They will always support what we are doing.”
The charity says it intends to use the money to cover costs of neutering and other medical needs, as well as kennelling costs.
