VOLUNTEERS are wanted for a campaign aimed at helping residents save money by reducing food waste.
The York and North Yorkshire Waste Partnership says more than seven million tonnes of food and drink are discarded each year, with more than half of that total still fit for consumption.
It said reducing food waste can help the average family save £50 a month.
The partnership is looking for members of community groups and other organisations to attend a training session on the Love Food Hate Waste campaign and help spread its message.
Training will be held at RHS Harlow Carr in Harrogate on Friday, May 10. To book a free place or for more information, email wastecampaigns@northyorks.gov.uk or phone 01609 533312.
