A NORTH Yorkshire MP has renewed her appeal for a rural fuel rebate for rural areas of the county.
Anne McIntosh, MP for Thirsk, Malton and Filey said she welcomed the announcement by George Osborne this week that the Government could apply to the EU to extend the rural fuel rebate scheme, but will carry on her campaign to ensure her constituency would benefit.
She said:”Obviously I am disappointed that as yet we have not heard if parts of Thirsk, Malton and Filey will qualify, however I shall continue to make the case and press forward with my campaign.
“Following the floods from September onwards, it is welcome news that the Government are pursuing the most affordable insurance cover once the Statement of Principles expires on June 30. The EFRA Select Committee, which I chair, has been taking evidence recently on insurance matters and funding for flood defences and will be reporting this summer. I shall continue to monitor these developments closely.”
