A RYEDALE golf club and wedding venue which says its advertising plans are being “frustrated” by red tape is making a fresh bid for a permanent sign directing drivers to it from the A64.
Sandburn Hall, at Flaxton – which has an 18-hole golf course, a restaurant, conference facilities and 55 holiday lodges – secured temporary approval last year for an advertisement beside the A64, having previously been turned down several times.
The planning permission expired earlier this month, and a new planning application has now been sent to Ryedale District Council.
Sandburn York Ltd said there was a “pressing need” to direct visitors towards the venue, and its status as a “significant employer and a valuable source of income to the local economy” was being hampered by a lack of signs.
Sandburn York wants ten-year permission for a sign at the junction of Scotchman Lane and the A64.
