A NORTH Yorkshire food producer whose business supplies national supermarkets will be one of the key speakers at the next meeting of the Future Farmers Of Yorkshire.
James Potter, whose Yorkshire Farmhouse Eggs is based near Thirsk, will be joined by Sue Lockhart, Sainsbury’s head of agriculture and goats’ milk supplier Angus Wielkopolski who has grown the St Helen’s Farm brand to become the sole UK supplier of fresh goats’ milk to Tesco and Sainsbury’s.
The event will look at the importance of supermarkets to the farming industry, with the speakers giving their perspectives on the practicalities and opportunities for suppliers.
The event, which is free and open to all, is at 7.15pm on Thursday, January 23, at the Great Yorkshire Showground.
Ms Lockhart will outline the supply chain opportunities and the company’s aim to double the amount of British food on its shelves by 2020.
Future Farmers Of Yorkshire was launched in 2010 and brings together younger farmers, vets and industry supporters to share knowledge, experiences and develop networks.
Based at the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, events are held throughout the year with key industry speakers.
