MORE than 100 vehicles were checked by police as part of a major national operation this week.
Operation Hawk, which has been running since last summer, became part of Operation Checkpoint, with 42 officers from North Yorkshire Police joining members of forces in Cumbria, Northumbria and Scotland policing the borders for travelling criminals.
The joint operation, on Tuesday, saw North Yorkshire Police recover three suspected stolen vehicles, including a JCB, and two arrests for money laundering.
