A VICTORIAN country house hotel near Whitby has gone into administration.
Bob Maxwell and Nick Reed, of Begbies Traynor in Leeds, have been appointed as joint administrators of Dunsley Hall.
The hotel, which is set in five acres of landscaped grounds and has suites for 120 guests, will continue to trade while in the hands of the joint administrators, who expect to sell the business as a going concern.
Mr Maxwell said: “Like a number of other hotels we have been appointed over the last couple of years, the financial problems at Dunsley Hall Country House Hotel have been caused by a slowdown in consumer spending. We are continuing to run the business as normal while we seek a buyer.
“Already we have been approached by several interested parties and we are hopeful of completing a sale in the near future.”
