A BLUEPRINT has been unveiled for how a North Yorkshire town could be developed over the next 13 years.
The Helmsley Plan includes five preferred sites for new housing, as well as land for businesses and a care facility. A six-week public consultation has now been launched before it goes before a Govern-ment planning inspector. The plan has been prepared by the North York Moors National Park Authority and Ryedale District Council. Residents have until March 7 to comment.
Caroline Skelly, the national park authority’s planning policy officer, said: “The proposals will enable Helmsley to continue as a thriving market town and community, allowing it to grow to meet local housing and employment needs without harming its distinctive character.”
More information can be found at northyorkmoors.org.uk and the plan is available at the national park authority’s Helmsley office, the Moors National Park Centre in Danby, Sutton Bank National Park Central, Ryedale District Council’s HQ and Helmsley Library, as well as by phoning 01439 772700.
