TWO children have been spoken to by police in connection with damaged caused to two Malton schools.
Vandals caused extensive damage to play equipment, sheds, picnic benches and guttering in the playgrounds of Malton Primary School and St Mary’s Roman Catholic Primary School in Highfield Road in Malton, overnight on Saturday, January 25.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed they had spoken to two local boys, aged 12 and 13, about the incident, and investigations were continuing.
PC Mark Rees said: “This incident has caused a lot of upset within the local community and we are determined to bring the case to a swift conclusion. The response from local people has been very supportive and I would like to thank everyone who has come forward with information.
“Beat manager PC Jane Jones, who has been heavily involved in the investigation, will be visiting both schools involved to reassure all the children affected by the incident.”
