NORTH Yorkshire Police have urged officers from other forces to join them as new positions become available.
Advertisements have appeared on the force’s website for firearms constables to join the Tadcaster and Thirsk teams, and for detective constables for the newly formed crime operations section.
Under the advertisement for firearms constables, it said “an annual influx of around four million visitors makes this a particularly diverse and challenging environment for firearms officers to join”.
The move follows a lengthy appeal for special constables, and another recent initiative to encourage 100 people to volunteer with the force in roles including front counter support.
The advert also appeals for new police constables for the county, with new positions expected around the force area.
It said: “As part of our succession planning we will have opportunities for safer neighbourhood officers across the force area and we would therefore welcome applications from individuals who would like to be considered and put on a holding list for these future opportunities.”
The force also needs new detective constables within its CID and protecting vulnerable people units, and has encouraged any experienced officers who were qualified and interested in transferring or being put on a holding list for future roles to contact North Yorkshire Police.
The force has stated it would not fund relocation for the posts, and all applicants’ attendance and disciplinary records would be assessed during the shortlisting process.
Interviews for the transferees would take place at the end of March, followed by medicals in April, with an aim to have officers in the posts by the beginning of June.
