A HIDDEN bedroom in Nunnington Hall will now be open to the public after 40 years.
The west bedroom at the hall near Helmsley was used by the Fife family when they lived at Nunnington in the 1920s, but has not been used for decades.
Mollie Dodd, general manager at Nunnington Hall, said: “It’s very exciting to be able to open up new spaces and allow greater public access to previously hidden areas. Over the winter we have had a major reshuffle of some of the rooms in the hall, which has given us great opportunities, such as this.
"We think visitors will love the west bedroom in particular as it is a bit like a time capsule; it still has the fab pink, flowery wallpaper left from when the National Trust was given the house in the 1970s.”
As well as the west bedroom, a second room has also been vacated from its previous use as an office to create a secondhand bookshop.
People will be able to browse the shelves whilst imagining how the attic room was originally used, as servants’ quarters.
