A NEW 60-unit care home for over-55s in Scarborough will be named Jazz Court.
The development is being built in Eastfield, near Scarborough.
It has been named for the hybrid Jazz apple combining the Royal Gala and Braeburn varieties. The apple-themed name was chosen by current residents of nearby Braeburn House.
The £8m facility is expected to open by the end of this year.
Jazz Court is part of a larger project being developed in partnership with Keepmoat, Kebbell Homes, North Yorkshire County Council, Scarborough Borough Council, Groundwork North Yorkshire and P+HS Architects.
The Homes and Communities Agency has contributed £1.5 million to the scheme which will be managed by Sanctuary Extra Care once complete.
