A 13-YEAR-OLD girl is in hospital with serious injuries after a road crash in Whitby.

The girl was walking along at the crossroads of East Barnby Lane and Goldthorpe and was knocked down as the result of a collision with a white Fiesta Zetec at about 8.25am today.

She was taken to James Cook Hospital, Middlesbrough with serious injuries, where she remains.

Traffic Sergeant Pete Wood said: “If you witnessed the collision or noticed the vehicle or girl just prior to the incident, I urge you to contact the police straight away.”
