A SAFETY event aimed at motorcyclists in the Ryedale area took place this month.
Safer Ryedale held the event on Sunday, March 16, at Helmsley Market Place, with 95 Alive, North Yorkshire Fire Service, Ryedale District Council and North Yorkshire Police, and 200 safety packs were handed out to motorcyclists.
Andrew Santon, NYCC Road Safety Officer said: “We target messages at bikers because in North Yorkshire the majority who are killed or seriously injured every year (70 to 75 per cent) crash as a consequence of their own mistakes rather than those caused by other road users or surface defects.”
A further event in Helmsley will be held on June 8.
