A MAN was arrested today in connection with an incident in a North Yorkshire village in which another man suffered serious facial injuries.
North Yorkshire Police said the victim, who is in his 40s, is being treated at York Hospital while the arrested man, who is in his 20s, is in police custody.
A spokeswoman said the incident happened last night in Wombleton near Kirkbymoorside, with police called at 11.50pm by the ambulance service.
"Police are investigating how the man sustained his injuries," she said. "It is believed the incident took place in the vicinity of the Plough Inn on Main Street."
She urged anyone who was in the pub or in the surrounding area and witnessed an altercation late on Sunday evening to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, or pass information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
