A NEW housing development is set to be built in a Ryedale village. Ryedale District Council has approved proposals for 10 homes on land on Low Moorgate, in Rillington – between Malton and Scarborough – which is mostly used for grazing.
Most of the houses will have three or four bedrooms, with a pair of two-bedroom terraced homes, and three of the properties will be affordable housing. Five residents objected to the scheme, claiming it would cause drainage and road safety problems, affect the appearance of the area and lead to open space in the village being lost, but council planners said the applicants had amended their proposals and developing the site had been deemed to be “acceptable” without affecting existing residents in Rillington.
