THE son of veterinary surgeon and writer North Yorkshire author Alf Wight recently attended the annual British Small Animal Veterinary Association Congress in Birmingham.
Jim Wight and a team from The World of James Herriot, an attraction located at the author’s original home in Thirsk, attended the event with more than 2,000 veterinary delegates.
Jim signed copies of his authorised biography The Real James Herriot and heard from many delegates how much his father influenced them to join the veterinary profession.
The World of James Herriot Team members advised delegates about the recently launched James Herriot Statue and Legacy Fund which aims to support future vets and animal care students.
Ian Ashton, managing director of The World of James Herriot, said: “Jim is wholeheartedly behind the Herriot Statue and Legacy Fund and this impressive event has provided a perfect opportunity to engage with current professionals and businesses that supply and support the veterinary industry.”
