THE man killed in a crash on the A64 at the weekend was John Patrick Connors, from Malton, police have said today.
The 26-year-old, also known as Johnny, died in a collision at Whitwell on the Hill on Sunday.
In a written statement, his family said he was "a much loved son, brother, fiancé, uncle, grandson, nephew and friend." They added “rest in peace John, you are gone but not forgotten.”
The black Mercedes driven by Mr Connors crashed on the east-bound carriageway at about 12.30am on Sunday.
Police believe it was in the outside lane of the dual carriageway when it hit with the barrier in the central reservation and overturned.
Three passengers were taken by ambulance to York Hospital. A 22-year-old woman from Malton suffered serious leg injuries, an 18-year-old woman from Malton suffered neck and spinal injuries, and a 29-year-old man from the Knaresborough area suffered cuts and bruises.
The road was closed until around 7am on Sunday. Witnesses or anyone who saw a black Mercedes car in the area before the incident are urged to phone the Major Collision Investigation Team at North Yorkshire Police on 101, or to email MCIT@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
