THIEVES stole police equipment from the scene of a serious crash in North Yorkshire.
A 40-year-old man from Easingwold suffered life-threatening injuries when the silver Nissan Almera he was driving left the road outside Raskelf Farm Cottages at about 10.55pm on Sunday.
He was trapped in the car and cut free by firefighters, and had suffered serious head and facial injuries. He was taken to York Hospital, and transferred to Hull Royal Infirmary, where his condition is described as "life threatening".
The road was closed in both directions while police carried out an examination of the scene, and reopened at 4.05am on Monday.
While police were at the scene of the collision, thieves stole a set of blue lights which officers had put on top of cones to make the scene visible to other road users and ensure the safety of emergency services staff.
Anyone who saw the crash or who saw the Nissan Almera prior to the incident, or has information about the stolen lights, should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101 or email MCIT@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
