A MOTORIST was left in a critical condition after being seriously injured in a three-vehicle accident on the A19 near Northallerton.

The 35-year-old, who was driving an Audi A2, is from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.

The driver of a Mitsubishi, a 47-year-old man from Redcar, was arrested in connection with the collision but was released on police bail after questioning to allow time for further inquiries.

The accident happened on the southbound carriageway near the Cleveland Tontine, just south of the A172 junction, at 10.55am on Sunday.
