A CAR fire shut a section of the A168 on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called at 3pm when a black Ford Fiesta burst into flames on the southbound carriageway, in Topcliffe.
North Yorkshire Police said everyone had exited the car before the fire service arrived and nobody was injured.
Fire crews from Thirsk and Northallerton used breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the flames.
Police re-opened the road at 4.30pm.
