A DEDICATED North Yorkshire councillor died suddenly this morning, it has been confirmed.
Tributes have been paid to Cllr Tony Hall, who served on Hambleton District Council for almost 17 years.
The council's vice chairman, Cllr Hall had represented the Northallerton area of the district for almost 17 years. He was also a county councillor, town councillor and heavily involved in activities across his home town.
His colleague, the council leader Mark Robson said: "This is a tragic loss of a man that was full of life and energy.
"He was loving his role as Vice Chairman and already planning for his year as Chairman of the authority. We have lost a loyal servant of the district and a good friend.
"Our thoughts are with his wife, Janet and the family at this very sad time.”
Cllr Hall joined Hambleton District Council in May 1999, served on Cabinet from 2006/07 until 2009/10, was a Member of Prosperity and Places Overview and Scrutiny; Finance and Resources Overview and Scrutiny Committee; Appeals Committee.
Over the last 12 months he has been Vice-Chairman of Council 2015/16 and a Member of Scrutiny Committee.
