CCTV footage of potential witnesses to last weekend’s fatal fire in Norton has been released by police, along with an urgent plea for the people featured to contact the investigation team.
“I cannot stress the importance of needing to speak to these people and appeal to them or anyone who may know who they are, to please come forward and contact police,” said detective inspector Alan Carey, leader of the investigation.
“It is vital that these four people come forward to speak to officers. They were in the area at the time of the fire at a crucial time, either just before it broke out or as it was happening.
“Even if they didn’t see anything, we still need to speak to them as they could help piece together the tragic events of Saturday morning,” he said.
On the first image two people are seen at 2:05am walking along Church Street, heading in the direction of the scene of the fire.
On the second image at around 2:17am, two people are seen walking along Church Street, past the filling station on the opposite side of the road but also heading in the direction of the tragedy.
The blaze, which is being treated as suspected arson, claimed the lives of promising young jockeys Jan Wilson, 19, and 18-year-old Jamie Kyne, early on Saturday morning last week.
A local man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains on police bail.
