CANCER patients in North Yorkshire now have the right to be seen by a specialist within two weeks of a referral from their GP.
The pledge is part of an update of the NHS Constitution, launched last year, which will also promises treatment from a consultant within 18 weeks in less urgent cases.
Kathryn Riddle, chairman of NHS Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “NHS Yorkshire and the Humber has already made great progress when it comes to referral times.
“Setting out our standards and communicating clearly what everyone can expect ensures that we are as transparent and as helpful as we can be.”
