POLICE have arrested a man in connection with the murder of a North Yorkshire postmistress.
Former York and Selby District woman Diana Garbutt, 40, was found dead in the upstairs living room of the shop and post office in Melsonby, near Richmond, on March 23.
A 44-year-old man from the Richmondshire area, believed to be Diana's husband Robin Garbutt, has now been arrested and was taken into custody this morning, to be interviewed by detectives.
Detective Superintendent Lewis Raw, the senior investigating officer, said: “The tragic death of Diana Garbutt three weeks ago has had a significant impact on people living in Melsonby and Richmondshire as a whole."
He thanked local people for their "overwhelming support and understanding".
