FORESTRY Commission chiefs have put up the Sold Out signs on this summer’s outdoor concerts by Keane and Simply Red in Dalby Forest after the last few tickets were snapped up.

Keane will play to 5,000 people on June 25 and Simply Red will do likewise the following night in the farewell year for Mick Hucknall’s soul band.

Ticket demand has delighted the organisers, who say the two sell-outs underline the emergence of the 8,600-acre woodland, near Pickering, as a prime choice for bands and revellers alike.

“We’ve been thrilled by how quickly these gigs have sold out,” says organiser Paul Cody. “It’s tremendous news as some of the cash raised is ploughed back into recreation and conservation projects in North Yorkshire so it will produce tangible benefits.

“Simply Red sold out in a few weeks, with Keane following behind. The word has spread that there’s no venue quite like Dalby on a midsummer’s evening.”

Keane and Simply Red follow the woodland path of Status Quo, Paul Weller, The Beautiful South, UB40, McFly, Pulp and Travis in playing the North York Moors forest clearing.

“Demand for tickets this year has far outstripped supply, so the Forestry Commission is advising you to sign up for free email alerts when future gigs are announced so you can buy tickets well in advance,” says Paul.
