THE body of a man has been pulled from the sea off the North Yorkshire coast.

The alarm was raised just before 11.30am yesterday when the body was spotted about two miles off Filey Brigg.

It was discovered by a group of fishermen who were in the area at the time and who contacted coastguard crews. An inshore lifeboat was scrambled to take the body back to shore.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said the man who died is white, in his 40s and with short, dark hair, but he has yet to be identified. His death is not being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing.
