A MOTORIST has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following a crash in which another driver was seriously hurt.
The three-vehicle collision happened at about 8.50am on Thursday, on the A64 at East Heslerton, to the north east of Malton. It involved a Peugeot 106 and a Suzuki Jimny, both travelling towards Malton, and a Toyota Avensis, travelling towards Scarborough.
A 49-year-old woman from Malton, who was driving the Suzuki, was taken to Scarborough Hospital with serious injuries. She was later transferred to Hull Royal Infirmary, where she remains in a stable condition. A 21-year-old woman from Leeds, who was driving the Peugeot, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
