THE Archbishop of York has told the father of missing chef Claudia Lawrence he can “feel” she is still alive.

The comment by Dr John Sentamu, made to Peter Lawrence during one of a number of meetings, has given comfort to the father as the search continues for his daughter.

Mr Lawrence told a national magazine he felt sure as a father he would know if something had happened to Claudia, who disappeared in March last year.

He spoke out prior to a TV documentary being screened next week about the massive police operation to find Claudia, a university chef, of Heworth.

The half-hour film features interviews with Mr Lawrence and her sister, Ali, reporters at The Press and her best friends Jen King and Suzy Cooper, who criticised some national media coverage which they said likened Claudia to a “call girl”.

• Missing – The Claudia Lawrence Story will be shown on Channel 4 at 7.30pm on Friday, August 13.
