POLICE are looking for the driver of an HGV that was involved in a collision with a car on the A19 north of Thirsk.
The accident happened on the northbound carriageway of the A19, close to the Over Silton turn off, shortly before 5pm on Sunday.
A white Volvo C30 and an HGV were both travelling in the same direction when the Volvo hit the central reservation.
The Volvo sustained minor damage but the woman driving the car was not injured.
The driver of the HGV did stop briefly, but did not speak with anyone at the scene and left before the driver of the Volvo could obtain any details, said traffic officers.
Traffic Constable Des Mooney said: “I appeal to the driver of the lorry to come forward, along with anyone who was on the A19 near to the Over Silton turn-off, travelling either north or southbound, at the time and witnessed the incident as soon as possible.”
Phone TC Des Mooney on 0845 6060 247.
