THE Star Inn at Harome has lost its Michelin Star in this year’s guide.
Run by Andrew and Jacquie Pern, the pub and restaurant near Helmsley has held the fine-dining accolade since 2002.
Jacquie said they were very disappointed and had only found out through a customer.
She said: “We never know when we’ve been visited or get any feedback, but we were quite shocked as the response we have from customers is always very positive.
“A lot of people eat with us on a regular basis – on average we are doing 1,000 covers a week – and our aim is to ensure we consistently offer a high standard and customers are well looked after.”
The Star, which has been run by Andrew and Jacquie since 1996, recently topped a poll of industry experts to be named best gastropub in the country.
The Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2011 marks the publication’s 100th anniversary.
