A SEARCH helicopter, a lifeboat, shore rescue teams and police officers were scrambled after a five-year-old boy was reported missing from a North Yorkshire campsite.
But after 90 minutes of searching, the youngster was discovered hiding in a compartment of his family tent.
North Yorkshire Police said it contacted Humber Coastguard on Friday reporting the boy had gone missing from the Crow's Nest Caravan Park between Scarborough and Filey.
The coastguard sent the Filey and Scarborough Coastguard Rescue Teams, the Filey RNLI Inshore Lifeboat and the Rescue 128 Sea King from RAF Leconfield, near Hull, to the scene.
The boy was found at 1pm in a compartment in the tent where he had been hiding.
Humber Coastguard watch manager Graham Dawson said: "Following the report of the missing child we immediately sent teams to begin the search - fearing for the worst as the camping field was so close to the cliffs.
"Luckily the child - who had in fact been hiding - was found safe and well after an hour and a half of searching by both the coastguard and the police."
