POLICE have made a fresh appeal for the two motorcyclists involved in a hit and run which injured a pensioner to come forward.
Officers are asking the bikers to search their consciences after failing to stop at the scene of the crash in North Yorkshire involving a 74-year-old woman.
She was knocked down by one of the motorcycles on the B1257 Helmsley to Stokesley road, near the Clay Bank car park, at about 5.20pm on Sunday.
Following the collision the two riders, heading towards Stokesley, stopped briefly before riding off.
The woman suffered shoulder and ankle injuries and was admitted to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. Following treatment overnight, she was discharged from the hospital and is making good recovery, but Insp Nick Wattam, of North Yorkshire Police’s Road Policing Group, said: “We can’t escape the fact that this could so easily have resulted in a tragic loss of life.”
Anyone who can help police trace the bikers should phone 0845 6060247.
