THE Jolly Farmers Inn at Leavening, near Malton, is raising money for the annual Cancer Research Race for Life.
Staff and customers will run the race at York Racecourse on June 19 in memory of Lynn Laughton, owner of the nearby Clifton Farm bed and breakfast, who died in January at aged 48 after a long battle against cancer.
Sarah Smith, landlady of the Jolly Farmers Inn, said: “Lynn was a good friend and neighbour of ours and her untimely death came as a great shock.”
It will be the third time the pub has entered the race, and the team has already raised £250 through events at the pub.
They will also hold a fundraising barbecue and musical evening on June 19 at 6pm.
