A NORTH Yorkshire MP has renewed her call for a specialist centre for victims of rape and sexual assault to be set up in the region.
Anne McIntosh, who represents the Thirsk and Malton constituency, said the area’s lack of a sexual assault referral centre was “unacceptable”.
She has asked Justice Secretary, Kenneth Clarke,Home Secretary Theresa May and Health Secretary Andrew Lansley to support a North Yorkshire centre.
She also wants some of the additional £3 million a year in funding for rape support, which was recently announced by the Government, to be used to pay for the centre.
