RESIDENTS using household waste recycling centres in North Yorkshire are being reminded they will be closed on Wednesdays from next week in a bid to cut costs.
North Yorkshire County Council runs 19 centres at an annual cost of £5.1 million.
The authority said the one-day closure will allow it to reduce costs by ten per cent as it faces having to make multimillion-pound savings.
The first midweek closure will take place next week and centres will then be closed each Wednesday, as well as continuing to close on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. For more information or to check opening times, log on to northyorks.gov.uk/hwrc or phone the council’s customer services centre on 0845 8727374.
