FAME Academy star Alistair Griffin and ex-Middlesbrough player Craig Hignett were setting off on the first leg of their charity coast-to-coast bike ride today.
The pair are among 60 cyclists tackling the 150-mile trip in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Organised by the Purple Mountain Bike Hire at Dalby Forest, Pickering, the route will take riders from Grange-over-Sands in Cumbria and finish at Scarborough on Sunday, with Alistair performing for supporters on the beach.
Heather King, from Purple Mountain Bike, said: “This is now the third year that we have attempted the bike ride and three times are many people are participating than the first year we did it.”
