A LONG-SERVING nurse is retiring after 43 years of caring for the patients in hospitals in Bridlington and Scarborough.
Sister Viv Howes began her career as a cadet nurse at Scarbrough Hospital, before qualifying as a nurse in 1972, eventually becoming a sister at Cross Lane Hospital in 1975.
In 1988, Viv took up her current role as sister in Outpatients at the newly opened Bridlington Hospital where she has been for the last 23 years.
She said: “I have worked with some fantastic people over the years, some of who have said that they were inspired to pursue or develop a career in nursing after working in my team which is an amazing testament.”
John Dunn, deputy director of HR, said: “On behalf of the Trust I would like to thank Viv for the many years of service that she has given to Scarborough and Bridlington Hospitals.
“She will be sorely missed.”
