THREE voluntary groups from North and East Yorkshire area have been honoured with The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
The Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team (SRMRT), Mires Beck Nursery in Brough, and Castaway Goole were selected from 250 groups nationwide nominated by members of the public for the honour which is the equivalent of the MBE for organisations.
Roger Hartley, Chairman of Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team said: “We are delighted to receive the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
“Team members don’t think of rewards when they are called out, but it is heart-warming to know that our services are valued in the local community. I am proud to see SRMRT honoured in this way.”
Winners will receive a certificate signed by The Queen and an exclusive commemorative crystal.
