AMPLEFORTH Abbey visitor centre has welcomed its 10,000 visitor, eleven months after opening.
The centre, under the stewardship of Father Kentigern, gives visitors a chance to understand the history of the abbey and the Community of Benedictine monks.
The 10,000th visitor, Sue Kershaw, from Huddersfield, received a commemorative scroll and a voucher for afternoon tea for two in the Abbey Tea Room.
The visitor centre is open every day. It contains display panels, an interactive quiz, audio pieces and a film, together with a mouse hunt for children.
