A NORTH Yorkshire MP has hailed a Government programme designed to help youngsters learn about international matters and become “responsible global citizens”.
The Connecting Classrooms scheme will provide funding to schools which have partnerships with those in other countries. The deadline for applications is July 20.
The scheme will be managed by the British Council. Thirsk and Malton MP Anne McIntosh said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for schools in the constituency to set up partnerships with schools all around the world. Technology will be used to connect the schools, enabling joint assemblies with children in other countries, and teachers will also be given the chance to further develop their professional skills. The opportunity will add to the educational experiences of pupils and increase the awareness of other cultures and societies around the world.”
