A fire station could face closure as a consultation over its future is planned.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service has reviewed its operation and bosses have recommended looking at the viability of its Snainton station, near Scarborough, and the possible redeployment of its personnel.
The 12-week consultation will start on July 2. Chief fire officer Nigel Hutchinson said it formed part of an objective review of fire cover in the area as the station had reached the end of its lifespan.
He said a review of the Snainton area had revealed that a station was not required to meet its needs, with appropriate fire cover already available from the Sherburn, Pickering or Scarborough fire stations.
He said: “I would like to make it crystal clear that the recommendation is in no way a reflection on the local crew, which performs very well.”
Details of the proposal will be available at northyorksfire.gov.uk from July 2.
