PLANS for a £3.5 million development which would see a new dementia care complex created in Malton will be discussed at a meeting today.
Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Trust is proposing to build the 14-bed Springwood facility at the Malton and Norton District Hospital site, and if it is approved by Ryedale District Council, work is set to start in October and be completed a year later.
The trust plans to switch the existing Springwood unit, which would be demolished, to Alexander House in Knaresborough while the work is being carried out, and its proposals were today going before the council’s planning committee. Planning officers said “key issues and constraints within the site” were being discussed at the moment and have recommended carrying out a site inspection before a decision is made.
