RESIDENTS in Scarborough are being warned to stay vigilant as police investigate a burglary in the town.
Thieves broke into a house in Scalby Avenue between 1.30am and 9.30am on Sunday through an unlocked door and stole a Samsung Galaxy mobile phone, a Casio G-shock watch, an old air rifle with a broken spring and other items.
Officers have appealed for anybody who saw suspicious activity in the area or who has been offered the items for sale to contact them.
They have also advised residents to make sure doors and windows are locked, use burglar alarms and security lighting and ensure garages are secured.
Anybody with information about the burglary should phone Scarborough CID on 101, selecting option two, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
