BRISTOL Rovers will arrive at York City tomorrow having only taken two points from a possible 15 on the road.
The fourth-bottom Pirates have also won just one Sky Bet League Two away match all season – a surprise 1-0 triumph against current promotion play-off candidates Oxford at the start of November.
John Ward’s side’s only other triumphs on their travels this term have come in the FA Cup, where they defeated the Minstermen and Crawley before exiting the competition at Birmingham City on Tuesday night.
Ex-City boss Ward is poised to make a couple of changes from the side that lost 3-0 at St Andrews with the more defensive-minded Tom Lockyer set to replace Oliver Norburn in midfield. One-time Minstermen striker Chris Beardsley is expected to be recalled at the expense of Ellis Harrison.
Beardsley’s only goals during ten outings since an October loan switch from Preston have come during the Cup matches against City when he netted in both the initial tie and the replay.
Midfielder John O’Toole is Rovers’ leading marksman with ten goals, including three in the last three games, while the injury problems that have dogged Ward this season are now easing although striker Ryan Brunt, midfielder Seanus Clucas and German winger Fabian Broghammer will remain sidelined for tomorrow’s match.
Bristol Rovers (probable): Mildenhall, Brown, McChrystal, Parkes, Smith, Lockyer, Clarke, Beardsley, O’Toole, Richards, Harrold.
