YORK City boss Nigel Worthington is approaching Saturday's trip to Fleetwood Town in a positive frame of mind.
The Minstermen chief is refusing to dwell on the disappointment of Tuesday's 2-0 defeat to Sky Bet League Two leaders Chesterfield at Bootham Crescent.
Worthington said: “As manager, I have to lead from the front and I can’t come in for training with a hangover from Tuesday night.
“We have to be bright and positive as staff and get the players focused on the next game. We are well aware that the games will run out but we have got enough in this group to get back on track and end this run of two defeats.
“We have proven that all season and there’s no better game after playing the team at the top of the table to go to another team up there as well. Me, Steve (Torpey) and Richard (Dryden) went to their 0-0 draw at Scunthorpe on Monday and they are a decent side, make no mistake about that.
“We have got respect for them but, if we do what we can do, we are capable of getting a good result.”
City currently lie 16th in the table and six points above the relegation zone but every side below them in the standings has at least a game in hand with some having played two or three fewer fixtures.
Worthington, therefore, understands the need to get back to winning ways as soon as possible and believes it is unlikely that two teams will be cut adrift at the bottom of the table come May.
He added: “The table has been tight since the start of the season and I think it will be until the last kick of the campaign so we need to keep looking forward. I’ve mentioned to the players that we have got 17 games to go and they have got to make things easier for themselves rather than harder during that time.”
Ryan Jarvis is still ruled out due to an ankle injury, but David McGurk is likely to be available despite suffering a back spasm late in Tuesday’s defeat.
