DIEGO De Girolamo is rejoining York City on loan.
The Italian under-20 international has been given permission to return to Bootham Crescent by parent club Sheffield United and is expected to report for training at Wigginton Road on Thursday.
De Girolamo scored three goals in four outings for the Minstermen before being recalled by Blades boss Nigel Clough at the start of this month.
He has since started one game in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy for the Bramall Lane outfit and was used as a substitute in two FA Cup ties against Crewe.
But Clough has sanctioned a move ahead of Thursday’s 5pm deadline for loan signings and a delighted City boss Russ Wilcox said: “Diego is rejoining us on loan and it’s great to have him back.
“Three goals in four games tells everyone about the qualities that he brings to York City.”
Ex-City boss Nigel Worthington, meanwhile, has ruled himself out of the running for the Cheltenham Town managerial vacancy.
Worthington was linked to the position following the dismissal of Mark Yates but told The Press he will not be taking over at Whaddon Road with former Torquay and Luton chief Paul Buckle expected to be unveiled tomorrow.
“There’s no truth in reports linking me with the Cheltenham job,” Worthington confirmed. “I am not looking to get back into the game until the New Year.”
