JAKE Hyde's 94th-minute equaliser earned York City a point at in-form Plymouth.

The Minstermen striker netted his fifth goal of the season to deny the hosts an eighth successive him win.

City had earlier got off to the worst possible start when Bobby Reid received the ball back from a right-wing corner that had been won in the air by Plymouth centre-half Peter Hartley.

The on-loan Bristol City midfielder then cut inside Luke Summerfield before his curling third-minute shot deflected off Femi Ilesanmi and floated over a helpless Alex Cisak.

City had a great opportunity to level when Lowe headed over the crossbar with home keeper Luke McCormick stranded following a teasing free kick from Michael Coulson.

Carson also lifted a glorious eight-yard opportunity over with the goal at his mercy following good work by Wes Fletcher.

But Cisak had to be equal to a Reuben Reid header and edge-of-the-box attempts from Bobby Reid and Andy Kellett to avoid a heavier half-time deficit.

After the break, unmarked Argyle midfielder Dominic Blizzard should have done better when he fired over from ten yards after Kelvin Mellor pulled the ball back from the byline.

At the other end, Summerfield dragged a 20-yard shot well wide after a positive burst forward but, moments later, Reuben Reid forced a near-post save from Cisak on and wing-back Mellor saw a deft chip bounced narrowly wide of the beaten City keeper’s right-hand upright on 76 minutes.

0n 86 minutes, Lewis Alessandra then turned Stephane Zubar far too easily but, with only Cisak to beat, he shot wastefully over from ten yards.

Substitute Deane Smalley also went on to clear the crossbar from closer in and Hyde punished their profligacy when Diego De Girolamo retrieved the ball from a cleared Coulson free kick.

His low cross to the near post then found Hyde, who followed up to head in after his first shot, from two yards, had been saved by McCormick.
