YORK City’s on-loan striker Carlton Morris was given permission to play for Norwich under-21s tonight by Bootham Crescent boss Russ Wilcox.
Morris, 18, scored two goals in a 4-2 win for his parent club in a Barclays Premier League Under-21s Cup tie at Fulham two days after making his Minstermen debut as a 77th-minute substitute for Wes Fletcher during the 1-1 away draw with Plymouth.
The City boss was happy for England under-19 international Morris to get game time with his side without a first-team fixture for a fortnight before the December 13 Sky Bet League Two meeting with AFC Wimbledon at Bootham Crescent.
Wilcox will also consider allowing Morris to play in future development games if it does not interfere with City’s schedule, reasoning: “You run the risk of injury by letting him play, but that can happen on the training ground.
“It’s important he keeps up to speed after he got 15 minutes at the weekend and I am happy for him to play for them.”
